The Pointer Sisters band was founded by Versatile Ruth, June, Bonnie, and Anita Pointer in Oakland in the early 70's. They signed the record contract with the Blue Thumb label, which released the Pointer Sisters' debut single entitled "Yes We Can Can" in 1973. The "How Long (Betcha' Got a Chick on the Side)" hit single followed in the middle 70's.
