Logan Whitehurst (drums) and Judah Nagler (vocals and guitar) started the Velvet Teen. The band's debut EP called Comasynthesis followed in the early 2000's. The duo recruited Josh Staples (vocals and bass) to record The Great Beast February EP, which was issued in 2001. The following year the group released the full-length album entitled Out of the Fierce Parade.
