Michael Romeo founded Symphony X in New Jersey in the middle 90's. He recruited singer Rod Tyler, bassist Thomas Miller, Michael Pinnella (keyboardist), and Jason Rullo (drummer). In 1995 they issued their first eponymous album, the full-length entitled The Damnation Game followed the record the next year, and the same year Tyler left the band.
