Bassist Hiro Yamamoto and singer Chris Cornell in Olympia, WA founded the heavy metal band called Soundgarden in the middle 80's. They recruited guitarist Kim Thayil and drummer Scott Sundquist (soon Matt Cameron replaced him). They signed to the Sub Pop label, which released their debut single called "Hunted Down."
