British singer-songwriter and guitarist John Martyn was an innovative guitarist, creating an altogether new sound with his acoustic guitar and similarly an innovative singer, whose slurred style also sounded like a tenor saxophone. John Martyn was in fact so experimental, that an early album of his, One World from 1977, earned him the title of 'Father of Trip-Hop long before this style was established.
