About The Smiths
In 1987, the Smiths were at the height of their popularity, but there began to be friction between Morrissey and Marr. Marr was growing disenchanted with the Smiths, and with the music industry as a whole. Marr also felt that Morissey was unwilling to go in new musical directions. On the other hand, Morissey felt that Marr should stop playing with the guitarists of other bands and concentrate on what was important, the Smiths.
