Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith formed Tears for Fears not in order to become another pop band but rather to take on artistic endeavors of greater dimension. Everybody Wants to Rule the World, not only the track's title but the song itself, express the talents of the Tears for Fears duo and the directions they were heading towards in the early 80s – not world domination but certainly influencing listeners and fellow musicians.
