Lisa Lopes, the TLC band member who was always the darling of the tabloids, causing one scandal after the other, announced in 2002 that she was leaving TLC and embarking on a solo career. Sadly, she never got the chance. She died of severe head trauma on April 25, 2002. the remaining members of TLC announced that they would finish the album that they had begun, even without the group's most vibrant character.
