English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Winwood started off as a blues organist and guitarist, backing American musicians when they came to the UK on tours. He has left the blues world somewhat, although Steve Winwood's musical partners were still blues oriented rockers (Clapton, Hendrix). Winwood's earliest songs, such as Gimme Some Lovin' bring out the blues in him as much as his rock sensibility.
