About Stan Getz
Like his idol, Lester Young, Stan Getz had a warm and lyrical style of playing his saxophone, later directing it in the bossa nova and samba styles that he had heard first hand while touring Brazil in the early 60s, on a US State Department sponsored tour. Stan Getz recorded perhaps his most famous song, The Girl from Ipanema, with Antonio Carlos Jobim, following that tour.
