About Roberta Flack
Roberta Flack suffered a blow in 1979 when her partner for many duets recorded throughout the 70s, Donny Hathaway, committed suicide. Until then the two had many successes recording together, including Killing Me Softly with His Song in 1973. Following Hathaway's suicide, Roberta Flack never reached the top of the charts as she has before, also partly due to the fall out of smooth soul and the rise of other genres, such as disco and pop.
