About Nirvana
Nirvana found inspiration and influence in everything that was alternative in music before it, from REM and Sonic Youth to AC/Dc and The Melvins. Yet the music of nirvana, first released in 1989 on the album Bleach but gaining attention two years later with the masterpiece Nevermind, was something new altogether. The grunge rock style that Nirvana created with their intense yet bleak distortion guitar songs was the new thing identified more than anyone else with Kurt Cobain and his band.
