Nine Inch Nails can also be regarded as simply noisy. Reznor was chosen at the peak of NIN's career in 1997 as one of the top 25 most influential people in America. The choice, by time magazine, was perhaps over the top for an artist who has sold only about 10 million albums. Perhaps it was premature.
