Although unlikely in style to the greater Muddy Waters career, his first hits were somewhat macho songs. Hoochie Coochie Man, I Just Want to Make Love to You and I'm Ready were successful on the R&B charts and were loud enough to draw people to notice the new guitarist and vocalist on stage. Muddy Waters resided over the entire Chicago-blues scene into the 50s.
