In 1995 Mobb Deep released their Infamous album, which by selling 2.5 million copies and including the song Shook Ones Pt. II established the east coast response to west coast gangsta rap. This Mobb Deep album and the following year's Hell on Earth were trend setters, mentioned in one breath with Nas and the Notorious B.I.G. releases of the time.
