Most famously perhaps was the comment by Kurt Cobain who said Smells Like Teen Spirit was influenced largely by the Pixies. When considering the howling cries of Cobain and Frank Black singing with the Pixies, it is easy to see this. Such was the effect of Frank Black when with the band until 1993, a career he kept up through the years with his solo recordings.
