Seventies funk and politically conscious R&B are two trends that Curtis Mayfield has introduced. His music was the founder of modern black music as we know it today, while serving as anthems for the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Curtis Mayfield, especially in Superfly but in many of his numerous recordings, has set the tone for even the greatest black musicians including Herbie Hancock's album Head Hunters.
